February weekend in Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes

23 February 2017

2500 people have visited the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes over the festive weekend timed to Defender of the Fatherland Day and Maslenitsa.

Over 3000 tourists came to Ferapontovo in February 2017. They admired the views of the village and local nature, the Ferapontov Monastery and certainly the 16th-frescoes of the famous Moscow icon-painter Dionisy.

February went out with a large number of days off and favourable weather. 2500 people have visited the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes over the long festive weekend timed to Defender of the Fatherland Day and Maslenitsa.

An interesting interactive program was prepared for guests along with usual tours. Those who wanted took part in the new quest tour of the permanent museum exhibitions: visitors were to find an article at the exhibitions of the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes using a small photo fragment, to take a picture against it and to post the photo in the group of the museum http://vk.com/fermuseum. The participants of the quest will be able to visit the museum once free of charge in 2017.

Residents of Moscow and St. Petersburg came to Ferapontovo during the Pancake Week and got to the mysterious atmosphere having joined in the adventure quest-tour “In Search of a Secret Room”. Kids and adults visited the recently restored Church of Annunciation (built in 1531) and its belfry. Going along dark narrow stairs and storage facilities, they looked for a real secret room and a treasure with centuries-old history – a box with the monastery treasure. All participants of the quest got a lot of positive emotions – both children and adults were thrilled to pieces when they had found the hiding-place.

The museum employees organized the master-class in oil painting for visitors not for the first time. The subject of the new lesson conducted by Elena Gudkova, employee of the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes, member of the Moscow Union of Artists, was still life. Participants of the master-class created their masterpieces that they took with them during six hours on February 25, 207.

Employees of the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes thank everybody for participation in the events and look forward to seeing you again in Ferapontovo.
